The CopperCom CSX is designed to meet the specific requirements of the independent operating companies (IOC) and competitive local exchange carriers (CLEC). From legacy switch replacement to existing switch expansion with a full range of circuit and packet based services – the CSX is the most flexible solution on the market.

Coppercom CSX

The CopperCom CSX is an RUS listed, next generation switching system that provides Class 4, Class 5 and IP Services. With a complete set of features including residential CLASS and custom calling features, business group, CALEA, LNP and centrex, the CSX is the perfect solution for service expansion or legacy switch replacement.

The CSX is designed to meet the specific requirements of independent operating companies (IOC) and competitive local exchange carriers (CLEC). The CSX easily provides solutions for CLEC start up operations, which require a lower initial cost and quick return on investment. Service providers also profit from increased revenue through value-added services which the CSX can deliver over traditional circuit or advanced packet networks.

The CSX offers excellent performance with high scalability. Small to medium offices, or larger ones, the CSX is ideal. In addition, the CSX provides a comprehensive solution for the ISP who wants to eliminate the high cost of PRIs while expanding to serve the voice and data needs of small business customers.

Converged Switching eXchange (CSX) Overview
The CopperCom CSX is the industry’s first true softswitch solution designed to operate with the legacy Public Switched Telephone Network and support next-generation services. The CSX provides proven Class 4 and Class 5 interoperability between IP and TDM access and core carrier networks. Subscribers can connect to the CSX system over a variety of wireline and wireless access networks, including POTS lines connected to GR-303 Remote Digital Terminals (RDTs) or Voice-over-IP Broadband Loop Carrier, Integrated Access Devices and Fiber-to-the- Premises systems. VOIP Business Sets and Multimedia Soft Clients may be connected over DSL, Cable or Broadband Wireless IP transport Networks. Inter-carrier connectivity is supported with TDM CAS, ISUP SS7 or SIP VOIP trunking allowing carriers to choose the most flexible and economical service options.

The CSX consists of two main components: the CSX media gateway and the CopperController softswitch.

The CSX media gateway is a fully redundant switching system including a shelf controller, circuit-service modules and IP service modules. Each port on the media gateway can be configured to support either trunking or line side protocols. A fully loaded CSX scales from a single shelf to a multi-shelf solution handling tens of thousands of subscribers.

The CopperController softswitch serves as the feature and call control system. It works with the CSX media gateway providing line and trunk side feature support and feature customization environment using CopperCom’s Call Policy Markup Language (CPML). This technology enables service providers the ability to deliver traditional local telephony service as well as exciting new services to subscribers over any kind of access.
